ERROR: No CENSORSHIP in the USA??

Post by Ulvirfaust »

I was browsing your VPN information page and you listed all the worst proponents of SOCIAL MEDIA CENSORSHIP, ie., Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran.. However, you marked North America and Europe completely free of censorship, even free of SUSPECTED censorship. This data is just empirically false. Based on massive crackdowns and arrests of people in the UK and Germany for violating speech laws on social media. The EU is fining Facebook for not censoring information. It’s been proven in the US that Google and YouTube are changing internet search results and guiding searchers away from a“conspiracy theory” websit to “accepted fact” websites. YouTube has been pushing alternative, non-mainstream opinion creators off the platform with demonizations and full on “hiding” videos that DO NOT violate the terms of service (therefore open to deletion) but YT employees just don’t like. All this heavy handedness we’re seeing is entirely based on political motivations. Right now, you are misinforming people looking for accurate information. Europeans, especially, should all consider VPNs at the very least.
More and more, it appears as tho the powers that be have been reading 1984, not as a warning, but as a guide book.

I'm sorry no one responded to your post before this. I can't speak for the owners of this site, but no one should ever trust anything they read or see on the Internet. OF COURSE some sites are going to edit or censor! We are dealing with humans, not robots. :-)

I'm not worried about the message in 1984. I think we have moved far beyond that old story at this point. Unlike 1984, most cannot see the unseen hand that touches everything. The trick is to assume nothing, trust nothing, and be nothing.

The listings are about state-sponsored/government censorship, not corporate policy of social media sites and search engines. We'll update that page to be more clear.
