Got a lease time though have only static ip's

Post by ciccirocco »

I have 4 devices connected in my house. I assigned a static ip to each one, in the router's configurations(got a hostname, MAC address and IP).
Although, If I go see the status, it gives me leases (2 hours) for those assigned ip.

How's this possibile? Should I have no lease time with static ip?

It sounds like you've done the "static" assignment at the router and not at the device. If the device is setup for DHCP it will ask the router for an IP address and if it matches the "static" assignment rules at the router it will always be assigned the same IP address by the router. For it to be static at the device you'd need to configure it on the device, not the router.
