false proxy call by streamers

Post by interdog » Tue Apr 17, 2018 2:28 pm

208.83.86.58 looks ok,is good for my isp, but nfx says proxy.
All 256 addrss in 86 group same. All others good.
So when dhcp gives me this range, I must reset modem to try for new ip
Nflx kiss me off. Isp is clueless

Oh, you are talking about NetFlix. I wasn't sure at first.

I tried contacting Netflix about this, but this is all the could tell me:
Netflix Dona C.
We aren't the experts on these settings, you should make sure the router’s connection settings are set to their defaults and any proxy settings are removed. Your ISP or router manufacturer can assist with this.

Yes, thanks. Netflix always kiss me off also. I am corresponding with the ISP but they are pretty clueless. It's a small outfit in Antigua.
I have run this range of their iPS ( 208.83.86.*** ) through various blacklist and proxy detectors but it comes up clean.
So the question is ' why is this range of ip's appearing as a proxy to Netflix and also Amazon?'
The rest of my ISPs available ip's work fine when I am lucky enough to get one in that range. Unfortunately this ISP swaps IPs very often, multiple time per day.
As far as my end. there are 5 devices on the network, all behave the same way and none have any proxy settings whatever.

It's hard to tell why that one IP range is having a problem. Perhaps someone was using that IP range and doing something Netflix didn't like so they have flagged it.

And I see what you are talking about with your ISP.

I think your best bet is to ask your ISP for a "static IP" and one that is NOT in that range you mention. If they don't know how to do that we can try to get them the information, but I assume you are using broadband cable or DSL. If you are using dialup then you may not have that option at all.

Good Luck!
