Why does my IP show up as "network sharing device" or "proxy server" when it isn't a proxy

Post by john66 »

Hi all,
I have noticed that my main IP address shows up as network sharing device or proxy server when it isn't a proxy server. I have never used proxies or set anything up on my computer's. Should I be concerned? It said previously that it was a suspected proxy server and now it's saying network sharing device and before it also said under services none when we first got the IP. Should I be concerned about this?

Showing as "network sharing device" is not a cause for concern if you have multiple devices sharing the same router.

There are some reasons why it could be showing as a suspected proxy server when it isn't or it could be a sign of a possibly compromised device.

If you want to send an email to [email protected] with the IP address and reference this post we'll look into it specifically.

What is the message you see when you are being blocked?

Knowing the exact error message can be helpful in identifying the cause. If you can also provide your IP address, that would help.

You can provide that here, publicly, or send an email to [email protected] with the IP address and reference this post.
