Static IPv6 addresses for mobile devices.

Post by Ged »

Just joined, first post.

I searched for "static IPv6 mobile" and "static IPv6 phone" but there was only one thread in the results and it didn't, er, address my issue.

I'd like to be able to SSH into my work network from anywhere using whatever mobile device I happen to have with me at the time.

Trouble is, everybody else on the planet seems to want to SSH into my network too. So I want to restrict the service to a single IP so I don't have to worry quite so much about all the brute force attacks etc. At the moment I simply don't allow SSH connections at all except by VPN, and I can mess about with port knocking, but it would be so much easier and less unreliable if I didn't have to do things like that.

I have an IPv6/48 and if I could get a static IPv6 address from somewhere (I don't care where) it would all be so easy.

Are there providers which offer things like that?
