FireFox and SOCKS server

Post by Voodoo » Mon Jun 04, 2012 9:41 am

Hi FireFox- and SOCKS server lovers ;)
As I tried to help molina2387 (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12490) I've installed FireFox 12.0 for a check...BANG I bumped into a granite wall. Big bruise! FireFox has a big built-in bug that wasn't there in the OLD version. The bug causes the missing IP of the website in the initial SOCKS request. The Bug  eats away the IP address of the website and left an IP of 000.000.000.001 (or 4 bytes: 00 00 00 01) in the SOCKS4- and SOCKS5-request for a Web-connection.
Result: SOCKS4/5-Server gets confused :? and does not know where to go with the IP = 1 and won't reply 8-) . Your FireFox waits...and waits...and waits for an acknowledgement...till a time-out occurs

Switch to IE9 (Socks4) or Opera (Socks5) if you still want to go thru a socks-server
