Proxy IP will be ALWAYS Proxy?

Post by sarah2 » Sat Feb 09, 2013 10:36 am

Hi!

I was wondering if a Proxy IP will always stay proxy, or it can change after sometime !!

this will help if I detect a proxy ip, so I can block it permanently or not.

And what's the best way tp calculate proxyscore ?

Just as a proxy server can be turned on it can be turned off. By no means permanent.

I think the OP wanted to know if there is a possibility that an IP address that now is used for a proxy server, to be used by a normal user in the future.

Proxy servers are usually on hacked servers, but sometimes, from that IP may come normal requests too ( if it does not get overloaded ). It is possible that the Internet Service Provider of the proxy server to give that IP Address to someone else when the proxy server will be disconnected. There are many variables here.

I'm not quite sure if this question is pertinent to this thread but I'm using a proxy on your site and usually it goes down pretty fast which is understandable. But lately I've been using one and it hasn't gone down. Is that just as normal? Or is it something to be cautious?

Can you elaborate on what the "it" and "goes down" means in the phrase "it goes down pretty fast"?

Sorry I'm losing my marbles. I didn't get the proxy from here. But I guess when I say "it goes down" I'm saying that the proxy gets disconnected.

It's quite normal for an open proxy to stop working shortly after it's been listed on an proxy list website.

No I know that. My question was is it normal to stay working. I'm used to it stop working within a few hours. It's been working for days so I was wondering if that's something to be cautious of, or is it also a normal but rare situation? Is it better to jump around proxies even though they are functioning?

You should ALWAYS be careful when using a proxy. How long it's been active should not be an indicator of security.

:lol: Thread Hijacking...
@sarah
What is a Proxy Server (or VPN)? It isn't a hardware piece but a piece of software that delegates requests from afar (i.e. clients). If this piece of SW is shutdowned the "proxy server" becomes a "normal" computer like yours. To detect a Proxy (or VPN) there're lots of possibilities. The best way is to run a java script against the incoming request and et voilà!

As Chrispcritters said...my advice: Change proxy frequently you'll bypass a lot of troubles and WIMIA runs after you like "a hare and a hedgehog". Click here :lol:
