interpreting trace response

Post by jamese »

Below is an IP Trace of a Comcast IP address. Can someone tell me if "be", "te", "c" are Comcast switches and what those prefixes mean ?

If they are Comcast switches, Comcast should be able to give me a location

be-7922-ar03.venice.fl.westfl.comcast.net 68.86.95.42 United States
te-0-0-0-1-ur03.sarasota.fl.westfl.comcast.net 68.85.213.70 Alexandria, Virginia, United States
te-6-0-acr01.sarasota.fl.westfl.comcast.net 68.86.199.90 United States
c-174-58-17-125.hsd1.fl.comcast.net 174.58.17.125 Sarasota, Florida, United States

thank you for any help interpreting these readings :?:

Are those ALL the IP addresses in the trace or just part of the trace?

It is unlikely that Comcast will give you any information concerning the internals of their network. Is there a specific reason that you care about the data route at that moment in time?

those IP are just part of the trace, and yes Comcast should know where there switches are located. I can get a better location to the IP I am tracing if I know where the switch locations are

thank you
