IP Lookup Under Proxies
I use a proxy to hide my real IP when visiting a forum that I was banned from, but when I visited the 'What is my IP Address ?' page to see if my real IP is detected, I was surprised to see my real IP instead of the fake one !!!? Does this mean that the proxy I'm using is useless or what ?

Re: IP Lookup Under Proxies
Did our site give any indication that a proxy was detected?

Re: IP Lookup Under Proxies
This is the info your site has provided:
General IP Information
Hostname: xx.xx.xx.xx
ISP: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Organization: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Proxy: None detected
Type: Unknown
Assignment: Static IP
Which may mean that my proxy wasn't detected by your site, but how come it has revealed my real IP ? Doesn't this mean that other sites may also reveal it ? Then what is the reason for using a proxy ?

Re: IP Lookup Under Proxies
It means that the traffic from your computer to our server did not pass through a proxy server (unless it's running on your own IP address - which does not mask your IP). Most likely means that something is not configured correctly on your end.

Re: IP Lookup Under Proxies
But why? Is this a weakness in the proxy I'm using or a strength in the server of your site or something else ? My proxy is said to be good in hiding personal IPs, then how come my real IP was detected by your server ? This means that other sites may do the same, so the question is what should I do to overcome this ?Chrispcritters wrote:It means that the traffic from your computer to our server did not pass through a proxy server
What is your suggestion then ?Chrispcritters wrote:Most likely means that something is not configured correctly on your end.

What I am saying is that you are not using a proxy server. How did you configure your browser to use a proxy?

I see what you mean. Well, I didn't configure my browser to use the proxy since I'm using a security software that helps you hide your real IP, changing it to a fake one just by clicking few Settings buttons and selecting one of the IPs that the software is providing.

I would check to make sure you've installed that security software correctly. Based on what you've said, it is not working.
