Difference between IP Blacklist and MAC Access control

Hi All,

I would like to know the difference between blacklisting an IP and MAC address filtering.
Please explain.

Blacklisting an IP means that an IP address is added to a list or database. If a machine tries to access a system where it is blacklisted, it's IP is used to check the database before it is allowed access. If it's on the blacklist, permission is denied.

I was not sure how to explain MAC address filtering exactly, but this page does a great job:
