Wireless Broadband Connections
Website now identifies connections that are wireless broadband - think cell phones, iPads, etc.

I don't think you can detect cell phones the reason I say this is because a cell phone runs off a cell providers network . For ex an iPhone can run off both a wifi system or a cell providers network and if you use an iPhone for the net on wifi it only shows the browsers ip your using example mine shows opera it dosent show my iPhones ip the reason behind this is because cell data is rerouted through your providers network . Like on here the ip that shows up isn't my iPhone its my wifi provider aka my ISP so detecting cell phones is hard to do if it even can be done

I just looked at my iPhones ip addy and its not what's listed on this site at all. iPhones use letters and numbers has its ip addys not all numbers like 110.0.0.123 at least from what I checked in my iphone it goes like A51.D and so on so what this site is getting is my isp its not able to get cell ip addys if it was the cell carriers would be filing lawsuits left and right to protect their clients . I know from dealing with my cell providers tech dept that its almost impossible to gain access to their network info on clients phones only they know your cells real ip addy . And it's only the tech dept who can gain access to it and they only do it to fix issues or send you network updates . Has for thinking you are seeing the cells real ip your not all that's listed is either your home network ip or your business network but I think only a hacker with tons of time on his hands might and I say might be able to hack a cell providers network but the chances of getting passed their security are slim to none and if you do your looking at legal issues big time . Least in the case of Canadian cell phone providers . Here the laws are very different compared to the USA for example in the us it's not illegal to obtain people's cell numbers but in Canada your not allowed to search or spam cell numbers if you do you will be brought to court for violating the privacy act .

There is always some kind of information available to people who run websites.
One piece of information is the IP address which connects to the website server: it is usually possible to find out something about the provider used. Another clue is the user agent string provided by the website visitor's browser. There is often some indication of what kind of operating system running on the device.
While it is possible to do things to throw the website operator off the scent, such as use a proxy or change the user-agent string, taking a look at them can still be interesting.
