port forwarding

Post by smallicoat » Thu May 13, 2010 8:26 am

My server is embedded on a LAN with Netgear WPN824v3 and is port forwarded so that you should be able to see a web page if you go to http://mallicoat.dyndns.org. However, you probably will not be able to ping this URL. Can anyone explain this? I tried setting up an additional port forward, TCP on port 23 (telnet) with no success.

I am able to ping the server locally, on the LAN using IP

Thanks for any advice!

UPDATE: There was a block on my router, now removed.

Visiting the URL and ping are both working from here.
