Proxify site blocked
Proxify site blocked
I clicked on proxify.com and my antivirus (webroot security) blocked it, warning me that it's potentially unsafe. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Thanks.

Joe,
what "antivirus" you have there?

Hi voodoo,
I've got "Webroot Secure Anywhere". It's not just Proxify that it's red-flagged _ a lot of other proxy sites as well, and also the tor browser.

Re: Proxify site blocked
I could see why malware software would alert on using proxies. If you were not intentionally using them it would be a cause for concern.
Re: Proxify site blocked
Hi Joe,
as Chrispcritters said, if you intentionally want to run thru a proxy you can ignore the message triggered by your Webroot. The reason why Antivirus/malware usually "mistrusts" any other proxy server is that it itself runs hiddenly a proxy (localhost) and redirects secretly your browser to its proxy so that it "could" effectively do its job as an "antivirus and anti-whatever" guardian
In other words:It wants to keep the monopole for itself and won't tolerate any rival
