My roommate gets these whatsapp messages to click
on to websites for claims that he actually is qualified
Receive money from. But there are scam sites out
there. How do i find out if a website hes getting is legit.

My position would be that any unsolicited WhatsApp messages with financial content and links are a scam.
If it's not a link through a URL shortener (think bitly) you can perform a whois search and see details about how long the domain has existed and it's registration information. You can search the domain name and the word scam. You can check trust pilot.
