Check the headers of the email, this can sometimes show the IP of the sender. Finding the headers depends on what you use for email. Google it to figure out how. Take the headers and copy/paste the whole thing into the MX Toolbox Header Analyzer. That will make it easy to see how the mail flowed from sender to receiver.
